Poor Things Trailer
The upcoming film is a story of “love, discovery and scientific daring” set in the Victorian era, based on an adaptation of Alasdair Grey’s novel of the same name. Stone plays Belle Baxter, a Frankenstein-like woman who is brought back to life after her brain is replaced with that of her unborn child. However, she won’t follow the orders of the unorthodox scientist who brought her back to life (played by Willem Dafoe), as she wishes to live as many experiences as she can, far away from the man’s experiments. In the process, she meets Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), and the pair decide to run away together. This would eventually lead Bella into a quest for equality, giving her the possibility of changing the landscape for women’s rights in her time.
Searchlight Pictures released the film’s first trailer —a 30-second teaser with a single line of dialogue— ahead of this month’s Cannes premiere.
