Poor Things Wins Best Musical or Comedy Film at Golden Globes

Poor Things took the prize for best motion picture, musical or comedy, on January 7th at the Golden Globes 2024. The film also won the award for lead actress in a comedy for its star, Emma Stone, earlier in the night. This marks her second Golden Globe win and sets her up for a sure Oscar nomination for Best Actress when the Academy announces its choices on Tuesday, January 23.

 

Lanthimos himself was granted a nomination for Best Director and Tony McNamara, who wrote the film, for Best Screenplay. Jerskin Fendrix made his feature composing debut with Poor Things, leading to a nomination for Best Original Score —Motion Picture. Both Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffalo were nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
